| Q. What's the largest image file I can load with softWoRx Explorer? |
A. It depends on your computer and the amount of memory it has. You can view images that are larger than the amount of memory in your computer. For example, an image file over 2 GB in size can be viewed on a Windows XP, 1.7 GHz, 512 Mb laptop computer. After you install softWoRx Explorer, one of the first things you will want to do is set the amount of memory reserved for the application's image buffers. More memory equates to better performance, up to the point the entire image is contained in memory. The softWoRx Explorer application will use a maximum of 1.5 times an image's file size in memory. If you are dealing with large image files, we recommend leaving at least 100 Mb of memory for your operating system and allowing softWoRx Explorer to have the rest. The memory buffer size is set using Edit | Configuration Settings... and you must restart the application after changing the value before it takes effect. If you have 512 Mb of memory, set the slider to a value close to 400. |

| Q. Do I need to turn-off my anti-virus software/firewall protection prior to registering softWoRx Explorer? |
